介绍：The City Council held a special recognition April 16, 2013 for the more than 70 volunteers who serve on city commissions, committees and boards. The Council held a reception prior to Tuesday's council meeting, thanking volunteers personally for their efforts. During the Council meeting, Councilmember Susan Honda led a special presentation for the thirteen volunteer commissions that advise the Mayor and Council on specific issues, ranging from arts and diversity to human services and youth issues.

"Our volunteer commissions and boards are an essential part of the Council's policy and decision-making process," said Councilmember Honda, a former Arts Commission and Diversity Commission member. "They ensure that the community is heard during the policy process and that the issues before us are well thought out and considered."
