Uniontown has many interesting characters in its history and among residents today. You can find artists, farmers, bookbinders, free lance writers, teachers, furniture builders, collectors and many others in Uniontown.

The operation and improvement of the Town is dependent on community volunteers assisted by a small municipal staff with 1 person full time and 2 people part time. Volunteers serve on the Town Council, Planning Commission, Parks and Recreation Commission, Fire Department, Community Center Board and Community Development Association Board. Significant community improvements have been completed since 1995 with volunteer participation including rebuilding a city park, renovating a commercial building for a new bakery, and reconstructing a barn for use as an artisan and event center. A sausage feed has been held annually for over 50 years to raise the funds needed to cover the cost of maintenance and operation of the community center.
