着名京剧大师梅兰芳先生是近代杰出的京昆旦行演员，不仅是“四大名旦”之首，还是“梅派”艺术创始人；同时也是享有国际盛誉的表演艺术大师，其表演被推“世界三大表演体系”之一。2014 年是京剧大师梅兰芳先生诞辰 120 周年。在中华传统文化中,农历纪元 60 年为“一甲子”,120 周年是中华农历纪元的两个周期,谓之“双甲子”。
为纪念这位把毕生精力奉献给 京昆艺术的传承与革新的一代宗师,也为更好地推动当今京昆艺术的发展,由梅派艺术掌门人丶梅兰芳大师之子梅葆玖提议,北京京剧院院长李恩杰策划,举办《双甲之约 —— 纪念梅兰芳大师诞辰 120 周年梅派经典剧目展演活动》。
活动将由梅葆玖先生挂帅,集合当今部分梅派传人,精选多部梅派经典剧目,沿着梅兰芳大师足迹,重走梅兰芳大师巡演之路。

Peking Opera Festival offers a fine selection of original plays accompanied by an introduction to some of the key facts about Peking Opera. Basic background knowledge about the meaning of typical gestures, the abundant make-up and elaborate costumes help the audience understand the fundamentals of this mysterious genre.
In 2014, the 120th anniversary of the most outstanding Peking Opera performer of all times, Mei Lanfang, will be celebrated. He was the first actor ever to present Peking Opera abroad. Mei Lanfang's son Mei Baojiu, together with other outstanding stars of the Jingju Theater Company of Beijing, Mei Lanfang Jingju Troupe will present the Peking Opera Productions:"Classic Plays of the Mei School" and "Lady Mu Guiying Takes Command" in the United States of America.
